Hosted via uLibrary, the Talking Books Book Club invites patrons to listen to the same audiobook each month and take part in shared conversations, whether in person or online. It’s a relaxed, welcoming format designed to work for everyone, from confident readers to those who find traditional reading more challenging.
How It Works
Each month, a selected audiobook is made available in the uLibrary Book Clubs tab, free with a library card. Patrons can listen at their own pace while still feeling part of a collective experience.
Libraries can choose how to run the club, from informal listening groups and coffee mornings, to online discussions or simple promotional sharing with no events required.
Designed for Accessibility
Audiobooks remove many common barriers to reading. The Talking Books Book Club is particularly valuable for people with visual impairments, print disabilities, neurodivergent readers, or anyone who prefers listening to reading.
It supports inclusive access while recognising that there’s no single “right” way to enjoy books.
Why Patrons Love It
Why Libraries Value It
Why It Matters
By offering a listening-first book club, libraries can reach wider audiences, support accessibility, and create meaningful moments of connection through shared stories.
Because everyone deserves to be part of the conversation, however they read.
